Keep Warm this Winter with our Energy Saving Tips

With rising fuel prices and another cold winter on its way it is important you keep warm this winter, we have some simple winter warming tips that you can use to save on the pennies and prevent bigger problems in the future.

Start Checking your home for early warning signs to reduce the costly bills when it is too late

If you want to avoid a big bill after using an emergency call out service or to replace broken appliances is to get the house checked before it’s too late, what’s even better is that a plumbing check up is free (you just have to DIY).

1. Check your boiler has been serviced – it is advisable to get your boiler serviced once a year to prevent any problems in the future. If your boiler is not serviced regularly it is unlikely you will be able to spot any problem until it is too late.

2. Check any external pipe work for any signs of serious wear and tear as these may lead to bigger problems later, the biggest plumbing problem in the cold last year was frozen pipes, which will inevitably lead to burst pipes.

If you spot any problems remember to contact a professional plumber or gas installer to fix the problem. The cost now will be considerably less than the cost when you need it.

Simple energy saving tips will also save you a bigger fuel bill

Keep curtains closed – the most amount of heat in a household is lost through windows and doors, this is especially the case if you have single glazing windows. Many energy suppliers already advise to keep curtains partially closed to hold the heat in and the cold out.

Check your thermostat – Find a suitable heat to have the thermostat at whilst your heating is on. If you turn the heat on and off as you get too hot/cold it uses more energy continually heating the system from cold to hot than it does to keep it at a constant steady heat.

Always use professional, qualified tradesman who have taken the right plumbing, gas or electrical courses such as the ones we have on offer.

If you would like to find out more about the courses we offer call us free on 0808 115 6538 or fill in a form on the right and we will contact you.
