Zuli recently studied at Options Skills to become an electrician at Options Skills. He’d spent his career working as a behavioural mentor in schools. But he’d always wanted to learn a trade. He gave us a call and we got him booked on to the course.
He recently passed his electrical exams and is now off to get work experience with the mentor we provided for him. We caught up with him just before he left to find out about his time at Options Skills.
Why did you do the course electrical course?
I was a behavioural mentor at schools, I helped kids with behavioural issues. I wanted to do the course because I’d felt like I needed a trade. I’d always wanted to learn a trade for such a long time. I’d been putting it off for ages, so I decided to go for it.
Why did you choose Options Skills for your electrical course?
I chose Options Skills for convenience as it’s easy to get to. I spoke to Steve on the phone, I got that reassurance that Options Skills were going to guide me through. And I knew I’d get my qualification in the end. I came down to see the facilities and meet the team and I felt like it was the best place for me.
How did you find the course?
The first week it wasn’t happening, I wanted to walk out, I thought I’d bit off more than I could chew and found the course difficult. I come from a background where I haven’t been in the trade, it’s been more paperwork. I thought it was going to be a walk in the park, but once the trainers started talking about MCBOs and RCDs, I thought it’s not happening.
But after speaking to Adam, Steve and the trainers here, it gave me that confidence and reassurance. I decided to stick to it and see how I get on in the second week. That made all the difference, and I found the second week easier and I haven’t looked back since.
How did you find the teachers at Options Skills?
The trainers were very supportive. I passed the course as they reassured me and had the patience to walk me through. I wouldn’t have passed without them.
How would you sum up your experience?
Great Location, great guys and very supportive.
We wish Zuli all the best in his new career and look forward to having him back at Options Skills. If you’re thinking of changing career and becoming an electrician, have a look at our range of electrical qualifications now.
