Options Skills Purley opened two years ago and serves those in South London and the surrounding areas.
Just twelve miles from central London, our South London branch is easy to reach with several transport options available. Situated between Reedham and Purley train station, it is accessible via train or tube. And for those who prefer to drive, there’s parking available on-site, free of charge.
Opening back in 2018, the centre has gone from strength to strength. The Options Skills team have completely renovated and refurbished the centre, creating a purpose-built training centre for our students.
Classrooms were painted and kitted out with everything students need for theoretical based training. Workshops have been fitted with bays, desks, and an array of tools, work-boards and equipment for practical sessions.
We highly recommend that anyone thinking of learning a trade visits their local centre beforehand as it is during this time that you will see where you’ll be spending stage one of your training.
Given the current situation, however, we understand that it may not be possible for people to take time off work to come and visit our training centre prior to enrolment. With that in mind, we have just launched our new Google360 tour of the Purley, South London training centre.
From the comfort of your own home, from your phone, tablet, or laptop, you can take a virtual tour of the centre and see what we have to offer.
Electrical Training In South London
For those on our electrical courses, they will find a whole building dedicated to their training with three separate sections. The first being a classroom in which to undertake the theoretical side of the training. At the far end, there is a spacious workshop with bays, work-boards, a large bench and all the tools required for practical training. On the opposite end of the building is a computer suite and this is where students complete revision and online assessments. The department is designed to comfortably fit ten students into each section at any one time. There is also a kitchen area available for breaks.
“The facilities, the practical training centre is well equipped for you to build hands-on knowledge when learning to wire up, build your circuit, learn in handling tools and also test your work.” Ionut F – NVQ Level 3 Electrical Student.
Gas Training In South London
For the gas students, the set up is similar. One-third of the building has workshop bays and benches. It is here students will learn essential pipework skills. And, in the last third of the building, there is another workshop. This houses fires, gas hobs, and radiators. Students will spend some of their final weeks of stage one here. Separating the workshops is a classroom where students will complete the theoretical aspects of the training course.
“This centre is the best place to learn about gas courses. It has the best facilities” Sutha S – Domestic Gas Student.
In the third building are the reception area, common room, and another gas training space which includes an assessment area.
