Why Earn The EV Charging Point Award?
As the UK moves toward a greener future, there is a real push for drivers to choose electric vehicles. As a result, there is a growing demand for EV installers.
As of May 2021, nearly 300,000 pure-electric cards were on UK roads. That number doubles if including plug-in hybrid models. (Source: Next Green Car).
These cars need an electric vehicle charge point. However, there aren’t enough installers to keep up with the demand. This sizeable market will only increase as petrol and diesel fuel prices continue to rise, electric vehicles become more affordable, and technology develops. Upskilling and earning your EV Charging Point Award will put you ahead of the competition and prove lucrative as the industry grows.

EV Charging Point Installer Award FAQs
Frequently asked questions about our EV Charging Point Award.
DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
To be eligible for the EV Charging Point Award course, you must hold up-to-date wiring regulations and initial certification and commissioning. You can demonstrate this through having relevant qualifications in BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and inspection and testing.
WHY EARN THE EV CHARGING POINT AWAR?
As more people choose electric cars over petrol or diesel-powered ones, the demand for charging points increases. As a result, electricians and installers are needed to meet the demand.
Charging at home will become a common sight, but more electric vehicle charging points will also be needed in car parks, fuel stations, workplaces, and town centres.
This award will provide you with an understanding of the application of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. It provides a facility for individuals working in the electrotechnical sector to develop their understanding of the installation of electric vehicles (EV).
