Renewable Energy And Heat Pump Courses

We deliver a range of heat pump courses to help engineers future-proof their careers and add courses in renewable energy to your skillset.

With net zero targets for 2050, the heating industry is changing as the UK moves towards greener alternatives. A significant part of this will be switching to more sustainable heating options. To meet the targets set by the government, gas engineers are being called upon to upskill in the renewable energy sector.

We’re proud to be at the forefront of renewable energy training, delivering various heat pump courses and other renewable energy courses to ensure engineers are well-equipped for the developments in the industry and secure in their careers.

What Students Say About Our Heat Pump Courses

Heat Pumps & The Future Of The Heating Industry

With no new homes built with gas boilers after 2025, low-carbon heating systems will become more popular over the next few years, including electric boilers, heat pumps and solar panels.

But it’s not just new homes where we will see this.

As renewable heating alternatives enter the market, more and more homeowners will choose to add to or replace their current heating systems. Some prefer the hybrid option of gas boilers working alongside solar panels to heat and power their homes. Others opt to install ground or air-source heat pumps on their properties. And as we head toward a greener future, this will only become more common.

Our courses in heat pumps and renewable energy are the next step to get the training you need to fulfil this demand. Futureproof your career with a renewable engineer course through Options Skills here or read more in our Going Green Guide.

Career Opportunities For Heating Engineers

You’ll install, maintain and repair a range of domestic heating appliances such as boilers, fires and ovens. You may also undertake plumbing work such as bathroom and kitchen installation.

You’ll install, maintain and repair a range of domestic heating appliances such as boilers, fires and ovens. You may also undertake plumbing work such as bathroom and kitchen installation.

As the industry develops and more people adopt eco-friendly, sustainable heating systems, you’ll find yourself undertaking more renewable energy installations, maintenance and repairs as time goes on, which is why it’s essential to upskill sooner rather than later.

Once you’ve gained your qualifications and experience, you may find yourself drawn toward one particular sector of the heating industry.

There is usually less competition as a specialist, which could have a higher earning potential.

Areas you could specialise in:

As a heating and renewables manager, you’ll oversee a team of engineers and head up projects – ensuring all those involved are suitably trained and prepared.

Your day-to-day will include delegating tasks, dealing with any issues that may arise, and potentially being on the tools yourself.

As a self-employed heating engineer, you’ll have complete control over what jobs you do, your pay rate and how and when you work.

Being self-employed comes with a vast range of benefits and is incredibly popular, with 920,000 of the UK’s 4.85 million self-employed workers being in the construction industry.

Full-time & Part-time Renewable Energy Courses

We offer full-time and part-time heat pump courses and renewable energy training in green alternatives. This flexibility to train and upskill on a part-time basis is ideal for existing engineers who want to add to their skillset without losing out on income. Additionally, it also allows you to fit your training into your lifestyle.

Currently, each renewable energy engineering course is between one and five days. Because of this, we cannot offer part-time training options on an individual course.

However, we can offer flexible training options if you want to complete our complete renewables training package.

Our course advisors are on hand to help you find a schedule that suits you to allow you to upskill in the renewables industry. So get in touch today to find out more on 0800 802 1306.

Who Can Enrol In Our Heat Pump Courses?

Options Skills welcomes students from all backgrounds to enrol on our courses.

However, each course has its prerequisites, so please look at the individual course pages for more information.

How Do I Enrol On A Heat Pump Course?

Enrolling on one of our renewable energy courses couldn’t be easier.

If you’re unsure which courses you need, we have a renewables training package designer who can tailor your package based on your existing qualifications.

Alternatively, give our course advisors a call on 0800 802 1306, and they’ll be able to answer any questions you may have, create a bespoke training package for you, and get you booked for a date that suits you.

How To Begin A Career In The Heat Pump Industry

To begin a career in the renewable energy industry through Options Skills, you will first need to gain your ACS qualifications. You can do this through our Domestic Gas training course

Delivered in a three-stage format, you’ll learn essential plumbing and gas skills in one of our training centres and work on-site with a mentor to build your gas portfolio and earn your ACS qualifications.

To become a heating & renewables engineer, you’ll complete our optional stage four, earning essential renewable energy qualifications.

Why Are Heat Pump Engineers Important?

Heating engineers are responsible for designing, planning, installing and maintaining heating systems in homes and commercial properties throughout the UK. Without them, winters would be a lot colder and more uncomfortable.

And as the industry evolves, their role will become even more critical.

To hit net zero, every property currently heated by gas will need updating, and it will be heating engineers responsible for doing this.

However, the future of heating isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. Instead, engineers must evaluate each property and its heating requirements individually to ensure they install the optimum heating option

As a result, gas and heating engineers must be skilled and knowledgeable in a range of sustainable heating alternatives to ensure we as a nation can continue to stay powered and warm while reducing our carbon emissions. If you’re interested in finding out more about our heat pump or renewable energy engineering courses contact our team today. We are ready and waiting to help you take the next step in your career.
